solar water heaters - how to order
solar water heaterSTEP 1:
Understand how it works. Visit our web page "Brochures" and read the brochure Alternative Energies. Read also the brochure on Solar Water Heaters from the US Department of Energy.
For residential continue to STEP 2. For commercial applications go to STEP 5.
STEP 2:
To make thinks easier, we offer solar water heater kits, suitable for most residential applications. The kits are designed based on family size, climate and price.
Evacuated tube solar collectors are about 25% to 30% more efficient than flat-plat solar collectors
for cold climates. However, flat-plate solar collectors may work
well in a variety of situations and are an
affordable solution specially for warmer climates.
All solar water heater kits include: solar collectors, storage tank, circulating pump and controller.
For residential application refer to the table below.

Refer to our spec page for details. You may also try our Sizing System Calculator to learn how the sizing system works.
STEP 3:
Choose accessories and add-ons as desired. Our kits include the basic components for the installation. In most cases accessories or add-ons
is not needed. However, you may want to upgrade for efficiency enhancing. We offer accessories and add-ons you might want to consider. For instance:
For colder climates a drain-back tank is recommended for freezing protection. Occasionally,
during hot days or prolonged absence, solar water heaters may produce
too much heat.
Adding a heat dump may help for reaching a safer heat level. You may also want an extra circulating pump
to add a radiant floor or portable water loop. If this is the case, go
to our Residential
Information Form.
STEP 4:
For larger families fill out the Residential
Information Form. The form
will guide you on the information needed for sizing and design of the
solar system.
STEP 5:
For commercial applications, fill out the
Solar Equipment Information Form.
